try a variety of shading--from light to dark, and dark to light on certain areas. Being nitpicky, the hair is too short on the sides. If they were that short, they'd be sticking up on the sides, and if they were slightly longer, they'd match the front of the hair more. It was as if their hair was trimmed so that the sides are shorter for the ears to stick up--unless you wanted that in the first place.
